Every Scout Group requires trustees, which form the Group Executive Committee.
This committee oversees the administration of the Group. As well as a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, each Executive welcomes people with specific skills, and representatives of Beaver, Cub and Scout parents. Most Group Executives meet three or four times a year, but effective members will volunteer for tasks in between the meetings, thus ensuring the smooth running of the Scout Group and maximising its potential for a hugely positive impact on its young members.
Our current executive committee is made up of the chairman (who is stepping down), Group Lead Volunteer, Treasurer, and 3 trustees. On the basis that many hand make light work, we would like to extend this, whether with representatives for specific sections, or those who can help in other areas, such as co-ordinating the maintenance of our premises and equipment. The executive is the ideal way to help if you would rather not work directly with young people.
We would love to make one trustee responsible for overseeing maintenance of our Scout hut – from a small job like a drop of oil, a new bulb, or a couple of turns on a screwdriver, to running our maintenance days, or liaising with contractors, we need someone with a “trade” background who knows what a building needs and is able to help deliver it!.
